Dennis Dougherty’s “Songs from the Dog House” is the next effort in a long career making great music. His songwriting collaborators on the CD include Steve Gillette, Fred Koller and Joe LaMay. Guest musicians include Gina Forsyth of The Malvinas, Andrew Marlin of Mandolin Orange, and Joseph Terrell and Libby Rodenbough of Mipso.

Dougherty was part of New York City’s Fast Folk crowd with ringleader Jack Hardy back in the 80s and, perhaps not coincidentally, was a Kerrville New Folk Finalist at that time as well. The craft, the art of the song is where it begins and ends for Dennis.

Among a variety of projects Dougherty has poured his talent and focus into, he shot and produced a film honoring the late great TR Ritchie which was shown at the Kerrville Folk Fest this year.

"If anybody has the energy, talent, and moxie to play every WoodSongs Coffeehouse, it has to be Dennis and Charlyn Dougherty. When we started the 3rd Friday Folk Coffeehouse, the Doughertys were at the top of our “A” list. He’s booked in the first car on OUR coffeehouse roller coaster and I’m ready to hold on tight and enjoy the show."
